Carmen Olson, 79, of rural Warren, MN, passed away on Sunday morning, October 10, 2010 with her family by her side.
Carmen Celeste Knoll was born on March 8, 1931 in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Lucy and Arnold Knoll. She attended country school in Radium, MN and graduated from Warren High School. Carmen married Vernon Olson on November 20, 1949. They made their home on a farm where she was a stay at home mom and a farmer’s wife. After all of her children were in school, Carmen went to work at the Warren Hospital where she stayed until she retired.
She loved to work on the farm, knit and sew, garden, spend time with her family and she had a great love for animals.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Vernon; four children, Joyce Heaney of Warren, MN, VirJean (Pete) Olmstead of Crookston, MN, JoAnn (Mark) Saunders of Warren, MN and Randy (Brenda) Olson of Oslo, MN, thirteen grandchildren, Shannon Bakken, Shawn (Eric) Hricak, Ryan (Julie) Fenning, Donnie (Donna) Heaney, Francis Ortiz, Rachel (Brian) Burks, Adam (Sarah) Olmstead, Tiffany (Aaron) Rivard, Josh Saunders, Corey (Anthony) Velez, Kaitlin Saunders, Jesse (Roongtina Hongcharti) Olson and Mason Olson (special friend, Vembu Teske); ten great-grandchildren; Jamie Bakken, Kasie Bakken, Addison Hricak, Charlie Burks, Reid Rivard, Aidan Velez, Averi Velez, Madison Olson, Breanna Olson, Quinn Olson and two on the way; sister, Marlene Sommers; four sisters-in-law, Betty Knoll, Ida Nelson, Eileen Storbakken and Darla Jones and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank Knoll; mother and father-in-law, Agnes and Olaf Olson; son-in-law, Arthur Heaney; great-grandson, Dakota Dybedahl; sister-in-law, Delores Jones and brothers-in-law, Gordy Sommers, Clarence Storbakken, Marvin Olson and Bob Jones.
