Leonard E. Olson, 89, of Warren, MN, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren.
Leonard Emil Olson was born on June 6, 1918 in Caribou, MN, the son of Martin and Anna (Erickson) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Leonard graduated from Lake Bronson High School in 1937 and also attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, ND and Seattle School of Business in Seattle, WA. On Jan. 19th, 1941, Leonard married Delphine Hagen. They lived at Lake Bronson, Thief River Falls, MN, Larimore, ND, Whitman, ND, Renton, WA and Grand Forks, ND before settling in Warren in 1947. He worked at the Park Cafe, Hotel Lake Bronson, Lake Bronson High School, Hartz Store at Whitman, Red Owl Store at Larimore, Boeing Aircraft at Seattle and Renton and Minnkota Power Co-Op before becoming a long time employee at PKM Electric Co-Op in Warren.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church where he was active as a board member and served on various committees for 30 years. Leonard was also very active in community affairs including the Boy Scouts, 4-H, Association For Retarded Citizens, Chamber of Commerce and the Warren Senior Citizens.
Leonard enjoyed spending time with family especially teaching his grandchildren how to play cribbage. He also enjoyed spending time at his cabin at Lake Bronson.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Delphine and seven children; Gary (Val) Olson of Livermore, CA, Larry (Bonnie) Olson of Fruta, CO, Robert (Diane) Olson of Garland, TX, Richard (Barbara) Olson of Billings, MT, Jerrilyn (Duane) Potucek of Warren, MN, Patti (Terry) Bredeson of Edmore, ND and Nancy Olson of Argyle, MN, seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
