Ruth H. Olson, 90, Bemidji, formerly of Warren, died Sunday, May 16, 1999, at Goldpine Home. Funeral services were at Evangelical Covenant Church. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Warren.
She was born May 15, 1909, in Adams, N.D., to Frank and Mathilda (Carlson) Samuelson. She grew up and attended school in Adams until the age of 10 when the family moved to Warren. She was confirmed in the Swedish Mission Church in Warren which she attended. She graduated from Warren High School in 1927 and worked as a secretary to the superintendent of schools for one year until she moved to Thief River Falls to accept another position. She remained in Thief River Falls for five years before returning to Warren to assist her sister who owned and operated a hat and dress shop in Warren.
She married Sletten Olson Nov. 28, 1935, in Warren. They had two children. She was active in the church where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school for many years. She also worked with the Girl Scouts. From 1967 until 1980, she worked as a legal secretary in her husband’s law office in Warren. They retired in 1980 and moved to their lake home near Bemidji where she and her husband attended the Evangelical Covenant Church and she was a member of the Esther Circle.
Survivors include her husband; her daughter, Carole (Phil) Hofstad, Bemidji; her son, Julius (Gloria) Olson, Rice; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
