Sletten C. Olson, 90, of Bemidji died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Havenwood Care Center. The funeral service was at Evangelical Covenant Church, Bemidji. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Warren.
He was born may 4, 1910, to Julius J. and Caroline L. (Sletten) Olson in Warren, Minn., where he grew up and graduated from high school in 1928.
He attended Carleton College one year, then the University of Minnesota and the University of North Dakota law school, graduating from UND in June 1935. He was admitted to the Minnesota State Bar and opened his law office in Warren Oct. 3, 1935. On Nov. 28, 1935, he married Ruth Samuelson.
Active in city affairs, he served as Warren City attorney for several years; the school board for 19 years, during which time the school district was consolidated, and the first unit of the new high school was built.
For 39 years he served as attorney for PKM Rural Electric Association in the very early years of rural electricity. He also served as attorney for Minnesota Power Company of Grand Forks, N.D., for several years.
Other positions held include a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church during the planning and building of the stone church and board member of State Bank of Warren for many years.
In 1989, he retired from his law practice and moved to his lake home near Bemidji. While in Bemidji, he regularly attended the Evangelical Covenant Church and was very involved in the building of the new church.
Survivors include one daughter, Carole (Phil) Hofstad, Bemidji; one son, Julius (Gloria) Olson, Rice.
