Pagnac, Millie Harriert (Kroke) (1908-2003)

Millie H. Pagnac, 94, Stephen died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003 at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center, Hallock.

Millie Harriet Kroke was born the daughter of John and Christine (Urness) Kroke at Stephen on Nov. 20, 1908. She grew up and attended school at Stephen, graduated from Stephen High School in 1928, and attended Aaker’s Business College in Grand Forks.

On Nov. 6, 1928 she married Herbert N. Pagnac. They lived in Minneapolis for a time and later moved to Los Angeles, Calif. In 1931 they moved back to the Stephen area.

Millie kept busy as a homemaker cooking, caring for her family, and later helping Herb on the farm. She enjoyed playing piano and was a good cook. Herb and Millie moved from the farm to their home in Stephen in the mid 1980’s. Herb died Jan. 19, 1999.

Millie was a member of First Lutheran Church of Stephen, a honorary member of the WELCA, an a former member of the Eastern Star.

Family members include a daughter Donalyne (James) Thibodo, Stephen and Texas; two sons, Norman Pagnac, Stephen; and Roger (Beverly) Pagnac also of Stephen; 11 grandchildren, Leslie, Lynn, Scott, Kelly, Jeffrey, Darwin, Darla, Sheila, Greg, Jennifer, and Michelle; 24 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; as well as two sisters-in-law, Ruth Kroke, Stephen, and Hildur Kroke, Warren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, James, Clarence, Elmer, and Harry Kroke; and infant sister; a son, Jon; a grandson, Jon Jr.; and her husband Herbert.
