Mary Cecilia Parr, 97, died at the Karlstad Healthcare Center, Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001.
Mary Cecilia Parr, daughter of the late Henry and Emma (French) Savard, was born June 30, 1904, at Drayton.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith, and was graduated from Drayton High School in 1923. Cecilia taught in rural schools in North Dakota for several years.
On May 17, 1926, she was united in marriage to Frank Parr at St. Paul. The couple farmed in Fork Township of Marshall county until 1941, then moved to Strathcona where they farmed until retirement in 1980.
The moved to Thief River Falls where they resided until 1989. In 1990, she moved to Karlstad. Frank died Jan. 30, 1991. Since July of 1998, Cecilia has made her home at the Karlstad Healthcare Center.
She is survived by one daughter, Jackie, and her husband, Curtis Benson, Stephen; one son, Cecil, and his wife, Sharon, Nekoosa, Wis.; nine grandchildren; 21 great-children; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four sisters, and eight brothers.
Funeral services were Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, 10 a.m. at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Karlstad. Father Don Braukmann officiated. Interment was at Salem Church Cemetery, Stephen.
Pallbearers were grandsons: Neal Benson, Kent Benson, Jeremie Parr, Greg Gauwitz, Doug Kontz, Gary Bakken, Dan Erdmann, Eric Hjort and Greg Hjort.
