Raymond Pietruszewski, 89, of Karlstad, MN, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad.
Raymond was born on November 2, 1921 in rural Florian, MN, the son of Anton and Hedwig (Kuznia) Pietruszewski. He was raised in rural Florian where he attended country school. Raymond served in the US Army during World War II. On September 18, 1945, he married Mary Grochowski. They made their home in rural Karlstad where he farmed. Raymond also did carpentry work for several years. In Raymond’s later years, he refinished furniture.
He was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church, PNA Lodge of Florian and the American Legion.
Raymond helped build Assumption Church. He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, playing horseshoes, playing his harmonica and in his earlier years the fiddle, listening to the Twins and polka music, telling jokes and visiting with people.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Mary of Karlstad, MN; children, Veronica (John) Lubarski of Rochester, MN, Ernie (Val) Pietruszewski of Coon Rapids, MN, Jerry Pietruszewski of Champlin, MN, Richard Pietruszewski of Albertville, MN, Joanne Webb of Lynnwood, WA and Virginia (Rick) Olson of Thief River Falls, MN; sisters, Irene Rud of Stephen, MN, Aurelia Kujawa of Argyle, MN and Cecelia (Mike) Grembowski of East Grand Forks, MN; brother, Hilary Pietruszewski of Stephen, MN; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ed, Valerian, Henry, Felician, John, Francis and infant brother Fabian.
