Nick Plencner, 90, of Warren, MN, passed away on Saturday evening, April 5, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren.
Nick was born in rural Argyle, MN on March 29, 1924, the son of Michael and Mary (Kuznia) Plencner. He was raised in rural Argyle where he attended country school. Nick served in the US Navy Construction Battalion (Seabees) during WWII where he served in the Pacific Theater. After his discharge, he returned to Marshall County. On November 4, 1947, he was united in marriage to Beverly Hennebry. They made their home in Warren. They owned and operated Nick’s Red Owl from 1953 – 1973 and also owned Plencner Apartments. He was a Knights of Columbus agent in the area for 15 years. Beverly died on June 2, 2002. Nick married Lorene Pletsch on November 2, 2003. They made their home in Warren.
He was an active member of his community and church. Nick enjoyed donating his time and money to several organizations. He was a member of several organization including Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Warren American Legion Post #27 and the Warren Senior Citizens Club.
Nick collected “everything”. He was a people person who enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing and traveling the world.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Lorene; three daughters and two sons, Susan (Larry) Johnson of Owatonna, MN, Mona Vold of East Grand Forks, MN, Nikki (Myron) Volker of Janesville, MN, Michael (Christine) Plencner of Lakeville, MN and Wayne (Marlys) Plencner of Crookston, MN; eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Florence Steffen of Warren, MN; sisters-in-law, Cleone Plencner of Warren, MN, Helen Plencner of Fargo, ND and Iola Hennebry of Bemidji, MN, many step-children and step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly and three brothers, Edward, Ralph and Leonard.
