John Potucek, 86, Warren, MN, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2006 at the North Valley Health Center in Warren.
John LeRoy Potucek was born on April 12, 1919 in Comstock Township, Marshall County, MN (Radium, MN), the son of Emil and Lucy (Steinkopf) Potucek He was raised and attended county school in the Radium area. On June 25, 1944, he was united in marriage to Bernice Johnson. They made their home in the Radium area where he farmed and sheared sheep. He also did carpentry work. In 1966, they moved to Warren where he worked as a custodian for the Warren Public Schools. He retired in 1983. Bernice died on July 7, 1967.
He enjoyed woodworking projects and going to auction sales. John also liked playing cards with family and friends, playing his musical instruments and playing bingo and doing crafts at the Good Samaritan Center.
Left to mourn his passing is a daughter, Sandra (Gerald) Maruska of Warren, MN, three grandchildren; Alan (Lana) Maruska and Todd (Shelly) Maruska all of Warren, MN and Dean (Jana) Maruska of Argyle, MN, five great-grandchildren; Sophia Maruska, Megan and Kristen Maruska and Carter and Patrick Maruska, brother, Vernon (Shirley) Potucek of Warren, MN, sister, Vera Jackson of Grand Forks, ND, sister-in-law, Carol Potucek of Thief River Falls, MN and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, twin brother, Wallace and two sisters, Emily Hoss and Delores Johnson.
