Dorothy Ranstrom went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, MN, at the age of 78 years.
Dorothy Mae Myszkowski was born on June 13, 1936, in Strandquist, MN, the daughter of John and Helen (Gonshorowski) Myszkowski. She attended her first few elementary school years in Strandquist before her family made Warren their permanent home. Dorothy graduated from Warren High School in 1954. On April 12, 1958, she married Maynard Ranstrom. They made their home in Warren and raised four children.
Dorothy enjoyed working in the public, which lead her to a variety of jobs. As a teenager she worked at the Warren Creamery. She also managed a laundromat, worked at Rhonda’s Hallmark, and at Country Casuals.
Dorothy and Maynard’s greatest joy was spending time with their children and grandchildren, birthday celebrations, sporting events, and many family gatherings. It was also important to them to connect with relatives and friends. There were many summer reunions with cousins where many wonderful memories were nade. The Fall season was Dorothy’s favorite time of the year, as she and Maynard would take many drives while enjoying the Minnesota scenery and taking many pictures of the trees as their leaves turned color. Maynard died on February 12, 2001.
Dorothy was a kind and compassionate person who always put others first. She enjoyed bible studies, women retreats, and journaling her walk with the Lord. Dorothy had many dear friends and family who loved and supported her through life. She would want to be remembered most for her love for the Lord and putting her faith and trust in Him. She loved her family unconditionally and prayed for them daily.
Left to mourn Dorothy’s passing are her four children: Jim (JoAnne) Ranstrom of Warren, Brian (Margie) Ranstrom of Argyle, MN, Ron (Joni) Ranstrom and Sharon (Wayne) Larson, all of Warren; eight grandchildren: Ryan (Dana) Larson, Jesse (Hope) Larson, Casey Larson, Brenna Ranstrom, Kristen Ranstrom. Adaire Ranstrom (fiance, Robert Reinpold), Jordan Ranstrom, and Lydia Ranstrom; Great-granddaughter, Natalie Larson; sisters-in-law, Henrietta Myszkowski of Warren and Marjorie Reese of Lawrenceville, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maynard; brother, Daniel Myszkowski; two sisters, Theresa (Ed) Rominski and Elizabeth (Tom Sr.) Kasprowicz; Sister-in-law, Ivadelle Ringdahl; and brothers-in-law, Dennis Ranstron, Richard Reese, and Bill Ringdahl.
