Clarice Rasmussen, age 82, died on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, MN.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 25, 2013 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, MN with Rev. Rena Peterson officiating. Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Cedar Township, Marshall County, rural Middle River, MN.
Clarice Celia Rud was born at home on the family farm SW of Strathcona, MN on March 1, 1930, the daughter of Carl and Clara (Hoff) Rud. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and attended country school.
On November 5, 1951, Clarice was united in marriage to Elmer Rasmussen at the Pennington County Courthouse in Thief River Falls, MN. They made their home on the Rasmussen family farm east of Middle River, MN and to this union five children were born, Elmer, Cheryl, Laurel, Duane and Connie. Together they owned and operated a small grain and dairy cattle farm.
Clarice worked for a time at Blooms Boarding Home in Middle River and later worked several different jobs through her career at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls. Clarice also worked for a couple years in the potato fields near Hoople, ND. She was a very hard working woman.
Clarice devoted her life to her kids & her grandchildren. She loved to sing, play her organ & harmonica, read, do puzzles, knit, embroider, go fishing, play bingo & go to the casino.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Middle River and was active in Ladies Aide.
Survivors include her five children, Elmer (Dolly) Rasmussen of Middle River, Cheryl (Kelly) Cleven of Warroad, MN, Laurel (Cezanne) Rasmussen of Grand Forks, ND, Duane Rasmussen of Crystal, ND, Connie (Dale Johnson) Rasmussen of Middle River; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brothers, Ernie (Joyce) Rud, Carl Rud, Jr., and Kenneth (Benita) Rud; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer on April 1, 1989; parents; brother, LeRoy (Pat) Rud; 2 infant children, Arthur and Jenny; sisters, Clarinda Cormier, Carol (Dallas) Wikstrom, and Christine (Donald) Veselka.
