Bernice Rehder, 81, of Warren, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren.
Bernice Adell Kerestes was born on June 19, 1929 in Warren Minnesota to George and Mary (Palya) Kerestes of rural Tabor. She attended school in Tabor until the 8th grade and graduated from Warren Public Schools in 1946. She attended UND and the U of M, Minneapolis. Bernice was crowned Miss Warren in 1946. On November 19, 1949 Bernice married Victor Rehder in Warren, MN. They made their home in Warren.
Bernice was a member Zion Lutheran Church , Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid, Warren American Legion Auxiliary Unit 27, Hobby Homemakers Club, Mothers Club, Bridge Club, Birthday Club, Tabor 4-H Club and was a Hospice volunteer.
Bernice enjoyed spending summers at Lake Lida with family and friends. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved making donuts, breads and cookies, volunteering at church and she was noted as the “Poppy Lady”, distributing poppies for the Legion Auxiliary.
Bernice is survived by four children, Renee (Edward) Rosendahl, John (Diane) Rehder and Cindy Anderson all of Warren and Adele ( Bill) Carboni of Spring, Texas; 12 grand children; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Pakan of Eagle Pass, TX; sister-in- laws, Marge Rehder of Puyallup, WA, and Velma Carlson of Moorhead, MN and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jeffrey; son-in-law Dwight Anderson; siblings, George Kerestes and Gladys Brookshire; brothers-in-law, Ed Pakan, Joe Brookshire, Vernon Rehder, and Cliff Manger and sisters-in-law, Vivian Manger and Aileen Kerestes.
