Clara Reierson, 94, died on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 1, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, with Rev. Nancy Hanson officiating. Casket bearers included Robert Olson, Douglas Reierson, Loris Reierson, LaVern Reierson, Garret Reierson and Eldon Ness. Honorary casket bearers included Bruce Reierson, Marty Reierson, Clint Reierson, Marcy (Reierson) Mickelson, Vance Reierson, Mark Reierson and Dean Reierson. Interment was held at the Holt Cemetery.
Clara Jeanette Ness was born on May 23, 1913 in Holt Township at her parents’ home, the daughter of Nils and Elizabeth (Ellingson) Ness, the fifth of eight children. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. Clara grew up in Excel Township, Marshall County, and attended Sagstuen Country School and Holt School.
Clara was united in marriage on August 20, 1932 to Oscar Adolph Reierson. The couple farmed in the early years of their marriage, and later, Clara worked in the potato fields near Argyle, the turkey plant, and in the garment division of Arctic Cat for many years. Clara lived on her farm until 2000. At that time, she moved into the Skylight apartments for three years. Since June 2, 2003, she has lived at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls.
She was a lifetime member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. She was a member of Martha Circle, the Holt Keenagers group, the VFW Auxiliary and Cooties. In 1986, Clara was honored as Outstanding Senior Citizen of Marshall County. She liked to read, embroider, listen to old time music, play cards and bake, especially Norwegian specialties like krumkake. Most of all, spending time with family was very important to Clara.
Clara is survived by children, Vernon (Maxine) Reierson of Thief River Falls and Clifford (Jeanette) Reierson of Newfolden; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Myrtle Silverness of New Market; brothers, Clarence (Joyce) Ness of Montgomery, Ala. Orville (Mildred) Ness of Thief River Falls; sisters-in-law, Gertrude (Reierson) Flaten of Arizona City, Ariz., Clara (Nelson) Reierson of Newfolden, Gladys (Nelson-Reierson) Anderson of Thief River Falls; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar on March 4, 1978; her parents; a great-grandson; sisters, Alice (Ness) Ueland and Tilda (Ness) Olson; brothers, John Ness, Einar Ness; sisters-in-law, Eleanor (Bakke) Ness, Esther (Reierson) Bjerken, Annie (Reierson) Bjerken, Myrtle (Reierson) Pederson and Ida (Bjerk) Reierson; brothers-in-law: Edmund Ueland Rangvold Olson, Arnold Silverness, Peter Bjerken, Rudolph Reierson, Alfred Bjerken, Obert Reierson, Lawrence Reierson, Thomas Pederson, Ralph Flaten and LeRoy Reierson.
