Donald Rupprecht, 68, died on Saturday, December 21, 2002 at his home in rural Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at Silver Creek Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend David Pretty officiating. Burial will be held at the Silver Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8 at the Johnson Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
Donald Richard Rupprecht was born on May 4, 1934 in Thief River Falls, MN to Otto and Edna (Windsnes) Rupprecht. Rev. S.T. Anderson baptized him on June 6, 1934 at the Valle S. Congregation. He grew up and attended Sunnyside School District 121 in Marshall County. He was confirmed on May 15, 1949 in Silver Creek Lutheran Church by Rev. V. G. Sorenson. He attended Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, MN. After high school Donald was in the National Guard Company D, 136th Infantry in Thief River Falls from September of 1957 to March of 1965.
He was united in marriage to Margaret Peterson on June 26, 1960 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. Donald farmed in partnership with his dad and later with his brother Roger. He also did seasonal employment with Loeffler Construction, and most recently was employed by Jorde Brothers.
Donald enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, picnicking and welding. He also enjoyed high school sporting events, especially basketball and wrestling matches of his grandchildren. Farming was a lifelong career, which he truly loved. Watching the crops grow to harvest was his favorite time of year.
Donald has held various positions on the Silver Creek Lutheran Church Council. He served as the Agder Township Supervisor and Treasurer. He was awarded the Outstanding Young Farmer Award in 1968, Conservation Award for Marshall County in 1987.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Margaret, three children Melodee Rupprecht, Thief River Falls, MN; Dale (Sherri) Rupprecht, Thief River Falls, MN; Daryl (Terese) Rupprecht, Thief River Falls, MN; eight grandchildren: Chase Rupprecht, Shara Guidry, Cole, Reese, Malena, Seth, Alanis, and Noah Rupprecht, one brother Roger (Bev) Rupprecht, Thief River Falls, MN and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
