Jean M. Rusling, 69, Stephen died at her home in Stephen Monday, Dec. 23, 2002.
Jean Ortquist was born at Annandale on April 5, 1933, the daughter of Carl and Ellen (Erickson) Ortquist.
After graduating from Cokato High School, Jean began working for the Honeywell Corporation in Minneapolis. She later moved to Tacoma, Wash. and worked in the medical records office at a local clinic.
On March 20, 1954 she married John Rusling at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma. They settled in Stephen in December of 1954. Jean worked at Roy Benson and Son for over 20 years and did bookkeeping for Terog Manufacturing and Noel Electric.
She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church until it’s closure this year and was a former treasurer, choir director, Sunday school superintendent and Session member. Jean was also Past President of her bridge club and was a member of the Tumbleweed Bowling League.
Family members include her husband, John; a daughter, Laurie “Dodie” (William) Safranski, Stephen; two sons, John Jr. (Kathy), Apple Valley and Marc (Stacy), Stephen; 11 grandchildren; five brothers, Dennis (Marlys), Robert (Mary Jo), David (Mary Jean), Charles (Karen), all of Cokato and Marvin (Donna) of Buffalo, three sisters, Lois (Loyal) Nelson, Litchfield, Doris Neuenfeldt of Bloomington and Paulette Vogel, Mankato; as well as nieces and nephews.
