Elmer Sabol, 77, of Warren, MN, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Elmer Daniel Sabol was born April 6, 1933 at home in Sandsville Township, the son of Mike and Mary (Stano) Sabol. He attended a one room school near Alvarado, MN and secondary education in Thief River Falls. He enlisted in the United States Army as an active solider from 1953 to 1956 stationed overseas in Tokyo, Japan. On August 27, 1957 he married Janet (Tveit) at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. They were married for 53 years and made their lifelong home farming West of Warren. He also worked at Arctic Enterprises. He especially enjoyed working and volunteering at the Marshall County Historical Society Museum.
Elmer was a dedicated member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Warren and was the longest living parish member. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #27 and served on the Board of Directors of Marshall County Cooperative.
Survivors include spouse, Janet; two daughters, Cindy (Ralph) Melgard, Rose (Ken) Peterson; three sons, Larry (Debbie) Sabol, Chuck Sabol, and Bill (Heide) Sabol; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Johnson, Lucille Kjos, and Julia (Fred) Nicholls. Brother-in-laws George Duquette, and Galen (Sharon) Tveit, Sister-in-law Susan Sabol and his beloved four legged companion Brandy.
Preceding him in death were his parents, seven brothers, one sister, two infant siblings and several brother and sisters-in-law.
