LAST RITES HELD HERE
MONDAY FOR PIONEER RESIDENT
Final rites for Mrs. Kari Skomedal, who passed away March 31, were held at the Zion Lutheran church on Monday, April 2 at 1 p. m. with Rev. Jonas Helland and Rev. Walter M. Petersen officiating. Interment was made in the Satersdal cemetery in Marshall county.
Mrs. Skomedal was born on October 25, 1877 in Satersdal, Norway. In 1880 she came with her parents to Fisher, Minnesota and in 1892 they moved to Marshall county. She was united in marriage to John Skomedal on December 5, 1895 in Thief River Falls. They later established their home on a farm in Excel township, Marshall county. She was a charter member of the Satersdal congregation and also a past member of the ladies aid. She was confirmed and baptized in the Lutheran faith.
She is survived by six daughters, Miss Thora Skomedal, Mrs. Ingvald Pederson, Mrs. Melvin Torgerson and Agnes Skomedal of this city, Mrs. Walter Pederson of Brooks and Mrs. Jim R. Johnson of Minneapolis; three sons, Gunsten, Helmer and Lawrence all of this city; 10 grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Hans Mettil of Bemidji. She was preced in death by her husband, four brothers and two sisters.
