Sordal, Tilda (Halvorson) (1878-1976)

Funeral Services for Tilda Sordal, 98, of Menahga were held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran church in Grygla. Mrs. Sordal died Sunday morning at the Green Pine Acres Nursing home in Menahga.

Rev. Robert Amundson officiated at the services. Mrs. Rodney Anderson was the soloist and Jennifer Hagen, the organist. Interment was in Saint Olaf Cemetery, rural Grygla with the Belmont Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

Paulbearers were grandsons, David Sordahl, Paul Sordahl, Richard Sordahl, Jack Srnsky, James Srnsky, and Richard Srnsky.

Mrs. Sordal, the former Tilda Halvorson, was born April 11, 1878 at Bygland, MN. She was united in marriage to Knut Sordal in 1892 at Fisher. Following their marriage, the couple homesteaded in the Grygla area. After the death of her husband in 1946, Mrs. Sordal lived in Duluth and Thief River Falls. For the past six years she had made her home in Menahga.

Surviving are three sons; Gunder Sordahl of Fergus Falls, Sam Sordahl of Wakefield, Mich., and Clarence Sordahl of Menagha; four daughters, Mrs. Betsy Berg of Aw-gwah-ching, Mrs. Julia Fort of Thief River Falls, Mrs. Frank (Ida) Srnsky of St. Hilaire, and Mrs. Albert (Hattie) Zhorela of Duluth; 23 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, three daughters, three brothers and two sisters.
