Eugene “Gene” George Stalock, 75, of Alvarado, MN, died on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
Gene was born on November 17, 1933 in Grand Forks, ND to Louis and Gertrude (Benke) Stalock. He grew up on the family farm in Marshall County. He was baptized, made first holy communion and was confirmed at Assumption Catholic Church, Florian, MN. Gene attended country school and graduated from Stephen High School in 1951.
On July 12, 1955, he was united in marriage to Virginia Marie Zakrzewski in Florian. He farmed the family farm, and then moved to the Iron Range, Aurora, MN where he was employed in the iron mines. He moved back to Grand Forks and was employed with area construction companies. He was a member of the Polish National Alliance, Knights of Columbus, Eagles Club # 350 and Local Laborers Union. He enjoyed fishing, Nascar racing, playing cards and was a Minnesota Twins fan.
Gene is survived by his children: Marjorie Allen, Fargo, ND, Paulette (Eric) Jeanotle, Minneapolis, MN, Patty (Marty) Ekren, Detroit Lakes, MN, Kathy (Dick) Wilhelmi, Grand Forks, ND, Michelle Stalock, Grand Forks, ND and Sheryl Manske, Grand Forks, ND; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marlene (H. Dale) Aasand, Drayton, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents and infant sister.
