Arthur Stokke, 77, formerly of Newfolden, died Wednesday, April 27, 1994, in the Veteran’s Hospital, St. Cloud, Minn.
Arthur Howard Stokke was born Dec. 24, 1916, in Milton, Minn., the son of Emil and Julia (Lyngen) Stokke. The family moved to Newfolden, where he attended rural school and married Lorale Elseth in 1937. They lived in Newfolden, Grand Forks and Gatzke, Minn. He served with the Army during World War II at Normandy, in northern France and the Rhineland Campaign and received several medals. He spent several years in Veterans hospitals in Topeka, Kan., and Fort Meade, S.D., and had lived several years in the St. Cloud Hospital.
He is survived by half brothers, Russell, Aptos, Calif., and Wayne, LaMar, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Laurie Lou; brother, Ernest; and sister, Julia.
