Stromberg, Ellen Christine Storeby (Holmstrom) (1908-1997)

Ellen Stromberg, 88, of Strandquist died on Sunday, May 18, 1997 at the Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22 at 10 a.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist with Reverend Douglas Norquist officiating. Casketbearers will ber Chad Helgeson, Justin Ranum , Paul Storeby, Tim Storeby, Robert Storeby and Mike Ryan. Burial wil be in Mamrelund Cemetery, Lincoln township, Marshall County.

Visitation will be held at the Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls on Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service and at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to services.

Ellen Christine Holmstrom was born May 23, 1908 near Strandquist the daughter of John and Bertha (Lindstrom) Holmstrom. She was baptized and confirmed at Mamrelund Church in rural Strandquist and attended school in the Strandquist area. In 1927, she married Harry Storeby at Strandquist. The couple lived in Oklee before moving to Lincoln Township, Marshall County where they farmed. Ellen was united in marriage to Willard Stromberg in 1947 at Warren. Ellen was a telephone operator for Wikstrom Telephone Company for many years. She also worked at St. Francis Hospital in Crookston, Arctic Enterprises in Thief River Falls for six years, the Karlstad Hospital in Karlstad, and 20 years with the Strandquist schools.

Ellen was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church of Strandquist and a 25 year member of the Eagles Auxiliary of Crookston. She enjoyed bingo, going to the casino and being with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Larry) Burnow of Kansas City, KS and Bev (Bill) Ranum of Fargo, ND; two sons, Vernon (Esther) Storeby of Strandquist and Palmer (Maureen) Storeby of Inver Grove Heights; daughter-in-law, Evonne Storeby of Minneapolis; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchilden; special friend, Frank Grochowski; sister, Judith Kleinvachter of Karlstad; brothers, Alvin (Ruth) Holmstrom,of Karlstad and Elmer Holmstrom of Newfolden; sister- in- law, Gladys Holmstrom of Thief River Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, one son, Ervin Storeby; two grandsons, Bill Berg and Kim Storeby; brothers, Herbert and Ernest; sisters-in-law, Anna Holmstrom and Verna Holmstrom and brother-in-law, Frank Kleinvachter.
