Donald M. Thomas, 73, died in rural Grygla, Monday, September 13, 2004.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 16 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, with Rev. Mary Ronning Gilthvedt officiating. Casket bearers included Todd Stanley, Jared Moe, Bob Thompson, Dan Shedlov, Wayne Thomas and Dwayne Undeberg. Interment was held at Saint Olaf Cemetery in Valley Township, Marshall County.
Donald Martin Thomas was born on August 23, 1931, in Niagara, N.D., the son of Tom and Florence (Tollefson) Thomas. He moved with his parents to Grygla, when he was a baby. Donald grew up and attended Benville Country School. He worked for various farmers in the area and also did logging as well as road construction. He drove truck, which he really enjoyed.
On May 22, 1955, Donald was united in marriage to Karen Windsnes in Thief River Falls. He and Karen owned the Fourtown Store at Fourtown, for several years in the early 1970s.
Donald held membership in the Eagles Club, Thief River Falls. He liked to hunt deer, have coffee and visit with his friends. He especially loved his family and their time together.
Survivors include his wife, Karen of Grygla; one son, Kenneth (special friend, Barb) Thomas of Grygla; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leland (Thelma) Thomas and Arden Thomas all of Grygla; a sister, Margie (David) Steele of Minneapolis and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother, in infancy.
