LaVerne Freeman Thorson, 67 of rural Argyle, MN, passed away on Saturday morning, January 1, 2011 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls, MN.
LaVerne was born on June 2, 1943 the son of Freeman and Anna (Bjorgaard) Thorson. He was a life long resident of Alma Township, Marshall County, MN. He was married and later divorced. He was a livestock and grain farmer. He was in the vending and newspaper business later in life. He was currently employed by The Valley Tabloid in Grand Forks, ND.
He was baptized and confirmed member of Alma Free Lutheran Church in rural Argyle. LaVerne shared the gospel of Jesus in various congregations in the area. He sang on the radio in a program called the Sunday Morning Devotional Hour. This program was sponsored by the Newfolden Free Lutheran parish. It is now called the Trumpet of Truth.
LaVerne was an avid sports fan and he enjoyed attending high school sporting events. He traveled all over for lutefisk and dumplings.
Left to mourn his passing are many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 6, 2010 at Alma Free Lutheran Church in rural Argyle, MN.
VISITATION: One hour before services.
INTERMENT: Alma Lutheran Cemetery, rural Argyle, MN. Will be held later this spring.
