Merle Torgerson, 85, Warren, MN, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006 at the Riverview Hospital in Crookston, MN with her family by her side.
Merle Roley was born on Feb. 2, 1921 in Vega Township, Marshall County, MN, the daughter of Emmit and Gerda (Lindquist) Roley. She attended country school and Aaker’s Business College. On Nov. 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to Gordon Torgerson at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Vega in rural Warren. They made their home in rural Warren. For several years, Merle worked for Marshall County Home Health. Gordon died on April 7, 2000.
She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where she was active with the afternoon Circle and as a Sunday School teacher. Merle was also a member of the Warren American Legion Post #27 Auxiliary and the Knitting Club.
Merle loved sewing, knitting and quilting and spent countless hours collecting and making items for overseas missionaries. She was a very generous person who enjoyed giving to others.
Left to mourn her passing are her children; Galen of Warren, MN, Katherine (Chris) Humphreys of Keller, TX and Junelle (James) Beito of Warren, MN, daughter-in-law, Janna Torgerson of Warren, MN, six grandchildren; Bethany (Nate) Oberg, Emilee, Garrett and Patrick Torgerson and Michael and Alyssa Humphreys, special foster children; Wendy (Mark) Shimpa and Tanya (Jeff) Kazmierczak, sisters; Dagney (Maynard) Christenson of Webster, MN, Eunice Roberts of Forest Hills, CA, Doris (Glenn) Johnson of Warren, MN and Phyllis (Henry) Troska of Belle Vista, AR, brothers; Merton Roley of Warren, MN, John Roley of Mountain Home, AR and Marvin (Carol) Roley of Elk River, MN and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Paul, daughter, Patricia Austin and grandson, Nathan Erickson.
