Ed Tronnes, 88, of Thief River Falls died Wednesday at Northwestern Hospital where he had been a resident for some time at the CNC Unit. Funeral services for Ed Tronnes were held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Green Funeral Chapel. Rev. Harold Peterson, Chaplain at Northwestern Hospital officiated. Mrs. Arnold Hammer served as organist and soloist. Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery located northeast of Thief River Falls. Pallbearers were Hans Johnson, Carl Berggren, Arvid Olson, Norris Trochmann, Dean Kaushagen and Jerrold Nelson.
Ed Tronnes was born July 28, 1888 in Norman County. He moved with the family to Clay County and later to Pennington County, where he grew to manhood. In 1911, he was united in marriage to Tillie Brokke Runnestrand. After their marriage, they farmed a short time before moving to Shevlin, MN. In 1936, he returned to this area, living in Agder township, Marshall County, until entering the hospital.
He is survived by one son, Hillman Tronnes, of Tampa, FL; two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Lucille) Williams of Oregon and Mrs. Ernest (Adeline) Bodsberg of St. Paul; a step son, Leonard Runnestrand of St. Paul; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Amy Soderstrom, South St. Paul, Mrs. Ray (Evelyn) Brings, CA and Mrs. Don (Julia) Brings, Chisago; and 10 grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Albert Tronnes of WA and Hjelmer of Bagley; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Ollin, of Oregon, Mrs. Frank (Esther) Kroll and Mrs. Ray (Mable) Stevens, both of Washington. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters and two brothers.
