Robert Tureson, 68, Warren, MN, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Robert D. Tureson was born on June 12, 1937 in Hallock, MN, the son of Iver & Agnes (Erickson) Tureson. He spent his early years in the Hallock area where he graduated from Hallock High School. From 1955 – 1960, he was in the Merchant Marines on the Great Lakes working on the ore boats. Robert served in the US Army in Korea from 1960 – 1962. On Oct. 29, 1960, he was united in marriage to Marlene Wesolowski at Crookston, MN. They made their home in Crookston, Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. Robert worked at the LP gas plant in Grand Forks. In 1971, they moved to Warren and he drove semi truck hauling fuel and gas in the Upper Midwest and Manitoba from 1971 until he retired in 1995.
He was an active member of the Warren American Legion Post #27 where he was on the board for the last five years, served as co-chairman of the Warren Living at Home/Block Nurse Program and was treasurer of the Warren Senior Nutrition Council. Robert also volunteered driving senior citizens to doctor appointments in Grand Forks and Thief River Falls.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife of almost forty-five years, Marlene, daughter and son-in-law, Maurita and Jerry Christensen of St. Paul, MN, grandson, Kenton Robert Christensen, mother, Agnes Tureson of Hallock, MN, two sisters; Arleen (Rudy) Novak of Glen Burnie, MD and Sharon (Larry) Stein of Karlstad, MN, two brothers; Sander (Jean) Tureson of Greenbush, MN and Terry (Tammy) Tureson of Strathcona, MN and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and two nephews.
