Christopher Dale Vixie was born on October 3, 1966 in Crookston, MN, the son of Dale O. Vixie and Anna J. (Tallum) Vixie. As a young man, Chris was confirmed at the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden, MN. He attended school at Marshall County Central graduating in 1985.
Following high school Chris worked for a while at Old Mill State Park. He also worked at Natural Way Mills in Middle River, MN, but most of his life he worked with his father, Dale in construction and cutting and selling firewood. When his father passed away, Chris and his mother took care of and supported each other while Chris worked independently in his construction trade.
Chris spent most of his adult life mastering his hobby of wood carving. His knowledge of nature and eye for detail produced beautiful works of art. His favorite subjects to carve were birds and waterfowl.
Chris was an avid outdoorsman. From a young age he spent time with his father, Dale, learning about hunting and fishing as a way to provide food, and about the importance of conservation. He enjoyed many years as a successful hunter and fisherman, all while developing an eye for detail that lead to an incredible hobby as a talented woodcarver.
Chris enjoyed going on trips with his sister, Crystal, which included their first Nascar race in Las Vegas. They were a close brother and sister team, and supported each other during their cancer diagnoses. They were brought even closer during Chris’s cancer fight. He was her hero.
Chris was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Free Church. He was a dedicated attendee of “Mancave,” a Men’s fellowship group of NEFC of Newfolden, and thoroughly enjoyed his time with the guys.
Chris loved spending time with his family, friends, his cat, Rerun and his dog, Max. He also enjoyed spending time with kids, especially his buddies, Keegan, McKenna, and Haaken.
Chris is survived by his mother, Anna of Newfolden, MN; sister, Crystal (Tim Juven) of Battle Lake, MN; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dale; grandparents, Helmer and Irene Tallum and Ben and Sophie Vixie.
