Wagner, LeRoy John (1947-2013)

LeRoy Wagner, 66, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Sanford Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

LeRoy John Wagner was born in Thief River Falls on November 22, 1947, the son of John and Bernice (Sostad) Wagner. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Middle River.

LeRoy attended Middle River High School, graduating in 1966. Following high school he worked on the family farm.

He was united in marriage to Rhonda Nielson from Gatzke, MN, in 1971. They made their home in Middle River with their children, Kris, Rae Lynn, and Tara. He continued to work on the family farm and for various farmers in the area.

On July 16, 1994 LeRoy and Clarine (Skytland) Olson were united in marriage in Middle River at their home. They continued to make their home there until his passing.

LeRoy was an outgoing, talkative man who liked to go out for coffee, visit with family and friends, and spend time with his entire family. He loved being outdoors with his cattle and mowing the lawn and hunting. Decorating for Christmas outdoors was his specialty – making a wonderful display for everyone to see as they drove by. LeRoy was a very thoughtful man, making a point to call each family member on their birthdays. He especially liked spending time with the grandkids. Teaching them to drive and taking them for their driving tests was something special he did for them. LeRoy was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He will always be remembered by his family and friends, especially the grandkids.

LeRoy is survived by his loving wife, Clarine; children, Kris Wagner, Rae Lynn Gustafson, Tara Thoe, William (Kris) Olson, Bobby Olson, Tammy (Kevin) Hart, Toni (Jeff) Shafland, Terri (Brian) Murray, Gilbert “Butch” (Lynn) Olson and Becki (Ben) Hedstrom; mother, Bernice Wagner; 30 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Lois (Dave) Barth, Valerie (Larry) Nesteby, Karen (Norm) Opdahl, Sandy Olson, Wayne Wagner and Bruce Wagner; mother-in-law, Nadine Skytland; sisters-in-law, Patty Wagner, Eileen (Terry) Thompson; brother-in-law, Adrian (Mary) Skytland; special friend, Donna Rehm; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
