Wagner, Roger (1949-2008)

Roger Wagner, 58, of Newfolden, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly at Merit Care Northwest Hospital on January 1, 2008.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Friday, January 4, 2008 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M. on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, Minnesota with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be held at German Evangelical Cemetery in rural Middle River.

Roger Wagner was born in Thief River Falls, Minnesota on April 11, 1949 to John and Bernice (Sostad) Wagner. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Middle River. He attended Middle River High School and later enlisted in the United States Army. On February 29, 1992 he was united in marriage to Patricia Jean Otto. He worked for Marvin Windows in Warroad for two years and then moved back to Newfolden and was employed as a school bus driver for the Marshall County School District for several years.

Roger was a friendly, fun loving man with a quick wit. He was a jack of all trades who loved taking in auction sales, hunting, fishing, and had a passion for making chili. He also enjoyed making jerky of all sorts. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the kids that he picked up for school.

Roger is survived by his loving wife Patty of Newfolden; children, Matthew Wagner of Halstad, MN, Casey (Kayla Halvorson), William, and Tony Wagner of Newfolden, Karla (Paul) Davy and Melissa Hoeft; 4 grandchildren; mother Bernice Wagner of Middle River; brothers, LeRoy (Clarine) Wagner, Wayne, and Bruce all of Middle River; sisters Lois (Dave) Barth of Warroad, MN, Val (Larry) Nesteby of Greenbush, MN, Karen (Norm) Opdahl of Middle River, MN, and Sandy Olson of Thief River Falls, MN; as well as many nieces nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father John; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
