Raymond Douglas Weber, 82, died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at his home in Newfolden.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 14 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Newfolden, with Pastor Phillip Rokke and Reverend Raynard Huglen officiating. Casket bearers included Wayne Hamre, Gary Donarski, Mark Weber, Dean Weber, Mike Weber and Howard Hodne. Military honors were provided by the Newfolden American Legion. Interment was held at Oak Grove Cemetery, Newfolden.
Douglas Weber was born October 30, 1926 in Grygla, the son of Joe and Ida (McDonagh) Weber Jr. He was baptized at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, March 21, 1927 in Grygla. He attended school through the eighth grade in Newfolden. Doug served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1946.
On October 30, 1953, Douglas was united in marriage to Janette Bakke in Newfolden.
He worked for Fisher Foundry in Middle River, for a few years, and then became employed by Bridgeman’s, Thief River Falls, from where he retired.
Doug enjoyed old time music, riding his four-wheeler, doing crossword puzzles, spending time with family, driving with Mom in the country, bird-watching and working on the computer. He held membership with the American Legion Post of Middle River and the Thief River Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2793.
He is survived by wife, Janette, Newfolden; five children, Mark (Becky) Weber, Argyle, Dean Weber, Newfolden, Dawn (Gary) Donarski, Newfolden, Mike Weber, Newfolden and Marie (Wayne) Hamre, Bemidji; and six grandchildren.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents.
